Social Studies 6
Instructor: Mrs. McDonough
Thanks for visiting! I'm so glad you're here!!
In Social Studies this year we are going to take an exciting trip back in time to discover the roots of civilization. We'll begin our trip in prehistory and travel our way through ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, Greece and end our travels in ancient Rome or Arabia.
Together we'll undertake many adventurous excursions including: exploring the Neolithic village of Catal Huyuk, cruising down the Nile, experimenting with cuneiform and hieroglyphics, and designing your own Greek vase, and experiencing Roman forms of recreation!
Make sure your passport journal is in order and get ready to try out new cultures and ideas. We will collect articles and artifacts along our journey and participate in several projects.
If you have any questions, the best way to communicate with me is via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Want to keep informed on current events? Here are a few ideas to help out:
1. Check your child's planner daily.
2. Log on to the website and check the assignments daily.
This also helps your children to develop responsibility through daily and weekly prioritization. Your child will also learn to be accountable and set appropriate goals. It is a win-win situation!

If anyone is interested in donating to Treats for Troops, you can bring candy and money to Mrs. McDonough in room #610. We will be collecting through November 10th. Every little bit helps and will go directly to our troops. (Shipping for each box is about $19 and we usually send about 20-30 boxes each year.) ALSO, if you know someone who is currently serving in the military overseas, please email their MILITARY address to Mrs. McDonough. We will make sure they receive a box from Memorial Junior School.
