Reopening of HTSACC for 2020-2021
After Care will operate differently this year, given the new guidelines child care programs must follow. While there will be an adjustment to a different schedule this year, we look forward to providing quality care for your children! Registration will be completed using the new online registration system, Eleyo (click here for information on how to set up an account and register your child/ren).
Registration Requirements: At this time, families will be required to register for a minimum of 4 days of After Care per week. If space is available for the month requested, registration will be confirmed through Eleyo and an automated email will be sent to you. Should there not be space at the time you are registering for, you will be placed on the waitlist, and your registration will remain pending. Please note, registration fees will not be collected until the first payment is due, in which you will be invoiced for. After Care program fees (monthly) are as follows:
12:45 – 5:00pm
*above fees are monthly
Schedule Changes: Your schedule will remain in effect, unless a change is requested via email or through the Eleyo system. Changes can be made on a monthly basis by the scheduled deadline dates, and will become effective on the first of the month. Due to registration requirements of no less than 4 days of care, modifying schedules to less than 4 days will not decrease monthly fees. At the time of schedule changes, should any spots open up, families on the waitlist will be contacted to fill them.
Cohorts: Students will be placed into cohorts (groups) of no more than 15 children, with assigned staff members, which will remain consistent throughout the month. Cohorts will consist of children from various grade levels, aiming to keep the grade levels consistent to the greatest extent possible. Children within a given cohort will adhere to social distance practices.
Face Coverings & Social Distancing: Students enrolled in HTSACC programs will be required to wear a face covering at all times while indoors, except when eating or in extreme heat, unless doing so would inhibit the individual’s health. Social distancing will be maintained to the greatest extent possible throughout the program.
Activities, Free Play, and Supplies: Socialization and play is a major component of HTSACC programs, and activities will be planned to keep children engaged, while also allowing for social distancing to the greatest extent possible. Staff will facilitate group games, arts and crafts, STEM, and other activities that children can participate in. Free play will take place outdoors, weather permitting, or in gymnasiums, if available. The sharing of supplies will be limited and toys such as Legos, blocks, etc., will be separated for indivual use! Socialization will be promoted through conversations, “group games”, free play, activities where kids can work together to complete project, etc.
Virtual Learning/Homework: Time will be allotted each day for children to work on any virtual learning components or to work on homework assignments. Please note, staff will be there to assist with assignments, not to re-teach concepts. If your child is having difficulties completing an assignment without direct instruction from a staff member, a note will placed on your child’s assignment letting you know. Staff will not check individual assignments for accuracy, so please be sure to review homework with your child.
Lunch and Snack: Lunch will occur at the start of After Care, and should be brought from home each day. The microwaves will not be used, so please ensure your child’s lunch does not need reheating. Children will eat within their designated cohort areas or occasionally enjoy lunch outdoors – picnic style – on nice afternoons. A snack will be provided each day around 3:00pm. This year only, due to limitations on snack options, children will be permitted to bring a snack from home, should they not like the choice available to them.
It is important that your child is able to open any containers or food items sent from home. While staff will be available to assist on occasion, we ask that your child be mostly independent with these items. Please remember, microwaves will not be available for use for lunch or snack.
Hand washing and Sanitizing: There will be frequent opportunities for children to wash or sanitize their hands throughout the program. Children will be required to wash/sanitize hands (using sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol) at the following times:
- Entering After Care
- Leaving After Care
- Before eating
- Returning from outdoor/gym play
- After using the bathroom
- After blowing their nose, coughing, and/or sneezing
