¡Hola!  ¡Me llamo Señora Gibbs!  I teach 4th and 5th grade Spanish at Salem Drive School, Mountview Road School and Bee Meadow School.  I am entering my 13th year as a Spanish teacher, and have taught every level from K-12!

Being a teacher lets me share my love of Spanish language & culture with my students.  I do my best to make each class high-energy, practical & fun.  Let's have some fun & learn some Spanish!

    ¡Bienvenidos a mi sitio!

    Welcome to my site!

This site will provide helpful information for 4th and 5th grade parents and students (SDS, MTV and BMS).

Both 4th and 5th grade students will begin their year with basics, such as the Spanish alphabet, classroom vocabulary, greetings/good-byes and expressions of courtesy.  They will also learn about the Spanish-speaking world and how Spanish language and culture influence our own.

    DID YOU KNOW...?

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from Sept. 15-Oct. 15.  Why this date range?  It's because 7 different Spanish-speaking countries celebrate their independence during that time.  These countries are:  Mexico, El Salvador, Chile, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala.

  • Tips for Parents

    • Embrace the culture:  Try "Taco Tuesday" or watch the movie "Coco" as a family

    • Try to incorporate Spanish words, such as "Hola", "Adiós", or "Gracias", into your daily routine.

    • Look for Spanish all around you!  You might be surprised just how many common household products/items feature bilingual labels.

    • Encourage your child to share what he/she is learning in World Language class; let him/her be the teacher!
