2025–2026 School Meals and Summer EBT Program
(previously known as: Free & Reduced Price School Meals Program and P-EBT)

What is the School Meals and Summer EBT Application?

The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program that provides nutritionally balanced, reduced-cost or free breakfast and lunch to children each school day. This program was formerly known as the Free & Reduced Price School Meals Program.

For the 2025–2026 school year, the federal government is providing no-cost meals to those qualifying for the reduced-price meal benefits, in addition to those who qualify for free meals, based on income eligibility guidelines.

We encourage all households to complete an application for School Meals and Summer EBT—even if you believe you may not qualify. The information provided may help the district with statistical reporting, state funding, and grant opportunities.

How Do I Apply?

The School Meals and Summer EBT application is available online and can be completed from any computer or mobile device.

Paper applications are available in both English and Spanish using the links below.  Other languages are available on the USDA's website's translation page here.

Important Items to Note

  • When completing the application, the definition of Foster Care in New Jersey means a child is placed in the care of a state-licensed adult (a foster parent) outside of their biological home. This can include relatives, non-relatives, or group homes. If you are the biological or adoptive parent, your child should not be listed as a foster student.

What is the Application Process?

  • Applications are valid only for the current school year.

  • Once submitted, you will receive a determination of benefits email within 10 school days. If you don’t receive an email, or if not all children are listed, contact Kathy Murray at (973) 515-2408.

  • If a younger sibling begins school later in the year, please notify the district so the student can be added to your existing application.

  • Benefits from the previous year carry over temporarily into the new school year, but a new application must be submitted by October 17, 2025. After that date, students without an approved application will revert to full-price status.
