• Detective Frumple

    Mrs. Serido

    Grade 4

Welcome to class 4S!  This year in 4th Grade, you will investigate all subjects by asking questions, looking for clues, and finding answers! I love to solve mysteries, just like a detective. As a 4th Grade Detective, you will investigate, explore, and analyze new things in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

There are many fun, educational activities planned, such as the perennial favorites: The Production of Lewis and Clark, the Poetry Slam, and Electiricity Houses.  Logon to our Google Classroom with your child to see all of the technology related projects we are working on.

Please encourage your child to read, read, read throughout the year!  There is significant research supporting the notion that children who read at home do better in school.  Students who are good readers also tend to be better writers, spellers, have richer vocabularies, and are more successful in the content areas, such as science and social studies.  In class, we are keeping track of the students' total books read. The students will bring home a certificate for parents to sign in order to add stickers to our ever-growing chart.  How many books do you think we can read before the end of the year?

Students are required to copy the daily homework into their agenda each morning. Please note, it is always best to refer first to the student agenda as daily homework may change to meet the needs of the students. Specific Math homework will not be posted as students change classes for Math. Typically, the homework corresponds to the Topic and Lesson covered in class that day.

  • Snacks

4S students have a 'working snack' mid-morning each day. A dry snack and water is suggested in order to avoid sticky spills and damage to books and papers. Remember to make healthy choices. Thanks!

    Greetings 4th Grade Families!

Our first few weeks have been great getting to know each other and learning all about our 4th grade routines.  I look forward to meeting all parents at Back to School Night!

We have been learning about our great state of New Jersey, its regions, and special physical and recreational features.  We are using geography skills, including how to find latitude and

longitude. Do you know New Jersey's four regions? By the end of the month, you can view your child's Google Slides presentation through our Google Classroom.
