    General Information:

    Students will be exposed to a variety of computer topics and acquire skills including:

    • Work on Typing Skills using Typing Club
    • Discuss Cyber Issues (cyber security, cyberbullying, cyber ethics)
    • Learn how to do Online Researching using Citations
    • Google Sheets (spreadsheet)
    • Google Slides to create presentations 
    • Vector Images using Google Drawings
    • GarageBand for podcasting 
    • Google Sites to create a website
    • Sketchup for 3D Design
    • Programming with JD Humanoid Robots
    • Scratch programming language for coding
    • Financial Literacy using FUTURESMART program

     

    Expectations and Goals:

    Students will be proficient typists. They will be able to create and edit documents and presentations with confidence using Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Google Drawings. Programs such as Sketchup, and Scratch will be used to enhance creativity and programming skills.  Students will understand concerns and precautions surrounding cyber issues including cyberbullying.  Finally, they will have the opportunity to work with and program a JD Humanoid robot.

     

    Course Materials:

    No textbooks or supplies required.

     

    Assignments will be graded using a rubric or point system.  Some of the projects/assignments this quarter will include:

    • Future Smart - financial literacy web-based program

    Cycle Class - no homework
