- Warm up: (10 minutes) Students learn and perform the 3 components of fitness. The components are flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance.
- Skills: (15 Minutes) The purpose of this segment is to go over the basic skills of a sport so when moving onto the middle school students can try out and play sports with confidence.
- Game: (20 Minutes) The final part of this structure is where we put it all together and see where the students can improve.
Injury Notice: If a student cannot participate for a medical reason, a note from home will excuse him/her for that day. A doctor's note is required if the student is to be excused for a period longer than a week. Please make sure that the excuse has the student's first and last name, date (s) to be excused, and reason for the excuse.
Physical Education Attire: In the interest of safety, bare feet are never acceptable, just as sandals, flip-flops and boots are not. Closed shoes are to be worn for any type of physical activity, such as physical education. Wear soft sole, closed shoes with socks. Shoelaces must be tightened and tied, not tucked. Please have your child dressed in comfortable, functional clothing for PE days. Proper clothing is essential for safety, participation and individual achievement. Jewelry should not be worn to PE if it presents a safety hazard to self and/or others. This will also help to eliminate the possibility of lost or broken items. Daily participation will be at the discretion of the teacher. Thank you for your assistance in helping make Salem Drive PE program a successful and safe one for everyone involved.
About Me: I am a hardworking, dedicated, and enthusiastic graduate of Montclair State University that is currently working as a full- time Physical Education and Health teacher at Hanover public schools. I also completed my school leadership training at William Paterson University.
Outside of the Gymnasium, I served as the Athletic Director at Oak Crest Day Camp in Somerset, NJ. This position allows me to create and develop the camp athletics curriculum, lead and advise the Athletic Specialists, and most importantly, work hand in hand with our campers. Prior to becoming the Athletic Director, I worked as a Camp Counselor at Oak Crest Day Camp with 7th grade boys since Summer 2013. I also currently coach the Memorial Junior School boys soccer team.
These roles have provided me with the foundations in student management, instructional design, and hands-on experience in leading students in the classroom and gymnasium.
