PHYSICAL EDUCATION MISSION
The elementary physical education program for grades K-1 is based on one lesson per week over the course of the school year. Students will participate in educational games, cooperative games, fitness games, rolling, jumping-landing and cross curricular games and tag games.
The elementary physical education program for grades 2-5 is based on two lessons per week over the course of the school year. Students will participate in educational games, cooperative games, fitness games, educational gymnastics, rolling, team sport skills and Fitness Gram evaluation.
About Mr. McPeek
I am excited about beginning another exciting school year here at Bee Meadow Elementary School. This will be my 7th year here at Bee Meadow but my 15th year teaching in the Hanover Township Public Schools School District. I previously taught for 8 years at Memorial Junior School. Along with teaching at Bee Meadow I am also the athletic coordinator for Memorial Junior School. I have coached various sports in my 14 years of teaching, such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. I have coached at Memorial Junior School, Whippany Park High School and Verona High School.
Before becoming a teacher, I graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Business Management/Sports Management. I worked for the New Jersey Devils for a short time before deciding I wanted to become a teacher. I also have a masters degree in Integrating Technology into the Classroom from Walden University.
I look forward to a great school year where we will have lots of fun and learn the importance of working with others and practice living a healthy, active lifestyle.

What are Mr. McPeek's expectations for me during PE class this year?
-Students are expected to responsibly listen and follow directions.
- Respect other people, their feelings, and their personal space.
- Maintain a safe environment for everyone.
-Use equipment properly.
-Use appropriate language.
-Use restrooms and drinking fountains before and after class, or with teacher permission.
-Students are expected to hustle, display effort, show good sportsmanship and a positive attitude.
-Students are expected and encouraged to try new activities and games.
- Students will wear appropriate athletic shoes, tied properly, and proper clothing for activity.
-Participate in class by DOING YOUR BEST!
What do I need to be prepared for physical education class?
In the interest of safety, bare feet are never acceptable just as sandals, flip flops and boots are not. Closed shoes are to be worn for any type of physical activity, such as physical education. Wear soft sole, closed shoes with socks. Shoelaces must be tightened and tied, not tucked. Please have your child dress in comfortable, functional clothing for PE days. Proper clothing is essential for safety, participating and individual achievement. Jewelry shall not be worn to PE if it presents a safety hazard to self and/or others. This will also help to eliminate the possibility of lost or broken items. Daily participating will be at the discretion of the teacher. Thank you for your assitance in helping make Bee Meadow PE program a successful and safe one for everyone involved.
What if I am injured or not feeling well during PE?
If a student cannnot participate for a medical reason, a note from home will excuse him/her for that day. A doctor's note is required if the students is to be excused for a period longer than a week. Please make sure that the excuse has the student's first and last name, date (s) to be excused, and reason for excuse.
What does a PE lesson look like daily?
Our daily lesson plan is broken down into 3 major areas. In each of these areas we include activities that develop skills and concentrate on elements that coincide with each.
1.Dynamic Warmup- (4-6 min) Students engage in various stretches directed by the teacher or through the use of music to get their bodies moving and warmed up.
2. Fitness (6-10 min) During the fitness portion of the lesson, the body will be stressed in order to develop qualities of physical fitness- strength, flexibilyty and cario. We will play various tag games to get the students moving while having fun excercising! This is an area of the class that will also focus on cross curricular activities such as addition tag, spelling bee race, etc.
3. Lesson Focus-(16-20 minutes) The purpose is to carry out the objectives of the Physical Education program.
